The Power of Social Networking and Finding Your Dream Job

August 23, 2009

Social networks are being referred to a a new phenomenon, however, the interesting thing is that social networks are as old as people. According to Wiki – A social network is a social structure made of individuals (or organizations) called “nodes,” which are tied (connected) by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as friendship, kinship, financial exchange, dislike, sexual relationships, or relationships of beliefs, knowledge or prestige.. Thus, we’ve created these types of social networks for as long as amoeba had the ability to have amoebae…..

The new kid on the block that everyone is excited about is called, Internet Social Network. The beautiful thing about internet social networks is that they connect many more people easier than the old fashion networks where people have to be physically present to take advantage of them. Cyber space and internet connectivity has created the ability for us to have “Super Nodes” and groups of people all over the world for the first time EVER, who can connect and communicate on any topic for any reason. This is something that has far reaching implications and benefits!

There are many flavors of social networks on the internet from Dating to Orchid Growing. The one’s that i’d like to refer to are “Professional Social Networks”. These are the ones that I use and focus on to build relationships to help job seekers and employers meet each other. The one’s that I am intimately familar with are on my website; http://www.TheFriendZone.Tv and I highly recommend you join them if you are a job seeker.

Six Social Networking Sites I recommend:
1. LinkedIn: LinkedIn is a popular networking site where alumni, business associates, recent graduates and other professionals connect online. (I have over 15 million people in this network that I’m officially connected to – you can probably find a job in my network alone)

2. Plaxo: Join Plaxo to organize your contacts and stay updated with feeds from Digg, Amazon.com, del.icio.us and more. Plaxo has recently added a social network look and feel to there site with the addition of a ‘Jobs’ catagory.

3. Facebook: Facebook is no longer just for college kids who want to post their party pics. Businesses vie for advertising opportunities, event promotion and more on this social-networking site.

4. Twitter: a very new phenomenon that is one of the fast growing social networks that utilizes the ability to micro-blog messages. Many recruiters and headhunters are using this service to post positions for job seekers!

5. Youtube: Interesting addition to my list here, however, Youtube has some PHENOMENAL resources for job seekers that will expidite the learning experience and connect you with some amazing people when used correctly.

6. Visual CV: This is a really new comer to the world, with a focus on the Visual CV or Resume. This is a multi-media way of presenting yourself to the world in a way that is only possible due to the internet.

These Six tools alone have hundreds of millions of connections associated with them and have the ability to turn your job search into a laser beam targeted campaign.

Now here’s the question of the year – Do you know how to use Internet Social Networks to Find Your Dream Job?

Most job seekers don’t really understand the power of these profesional social networks, because they are fairly new, but most importantly, because they don’t have to. I’ve been a professional headhunter and business strategist for years and my salary has depended learning these technologies, so my motivation has been higher than many. Although as a result of the current economic environment, I’m sure that there are many job seekers who are having to learn aproaches that they have never thought about – which is why I’m sharing with you.

Therefore, here is what you will need to do to learn some of my secrets:
1. Go to my website (www.TheFriendzone.Tv)
2. Link to me on all of them – I have very mature networks.
3. Download my FREE book, “How to Find Your Dream Job Even in a Recession” – Selling on Amazon.com for $35.00 – My investment in you!
4.View my video training course on “The Power of Social Networks – How to Use Linkedin Like a Headhunter”. This is in the Dream Job Online Coaching System.
5. Go to http://www.JobRadioUsa.com and take advantage of the FREE information that is being given to anyone who wants it!

That’s it for now – I don’t want to overwhelm you too much, however there is a lot of work to do if you want to get up to speed. Also, be sure to contact me if you have any questions or need any help!

The Two Wolves

March 4, 2009

The Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, ‘My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.

One is Evil.
It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment,

inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good.
It is joy, peace , love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence,
empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a minute

And then asked his grandfather: ‘Which wolf wins?’

The old Cherokee simply replied,

‘The one you feed .’

I am obviously not the originator of this story, but I absolutely love it! I’d like to share it with you occasionally to remind you of the internal struggle we must ALL address. As the economy goes down further and the doom and gloom continues to be spread through the media, which wolf are you feeding?

It’s your choice – I’d like to remind you of a quote from Albert Einstein, “There are two ways to live our lives; one way is as though nothing is a miracle; The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

Amidst the tides and seasons of change, don’t forget who you are deep inside!

The Gift of the Rule of 23!

February 2, 2009

The current economy has yielded tough times for many, however, I’d like to share a gift with you that may shed some light!

On February 11th, 2003, my father (Big Ron) passed away at the young age of 66. I was just getting ready to celebrate my 41st birthday. Almost two years later, I had an epiphany that I now refer to as “The Rule of 23.” At that time, my own age was 43, just 23 years from my father’s age when he died. I am absolutely convinced that if my father knew he was going to pass away at the age of 66, he would have taken more risks, traveled more, loved life more—basically lived more passionately, without fear or regret.
I have decided to honor my father by using the event of his passing as a positive gesture; as a real spiritual awakening! I have decided to live, conscious of the fact that I may only have 23 years or less on the planet. This is quite sobering; thus, the child in me who is fearless and fun MUST live!

How do I apply “The Rule of 23” to my everyday behavior? Typically, we live like we have an open-ended contract to life, which is why when someone close to us dies, we are emotionally distraught. We never think about the finite amount of time we really have. We’re often too busy working and carrying out the mundane activities of life.

The idea I focus on everyday is that I only have now and anything is possible. Before the day is over someone on the planet will cease to exist—it could be me, therefore, I have committed to live with passion, love, truth and openness and not be afraid to take chances. I am committed to embracing the precious moments with which life has blessed me—no longer taking life for granted and expecting that it is going to be here when I wake up. So to my father, I dedicate my book and promise to “Live like I was dying.” (Tim McGraw, “Live like you were dying – Curb Records.”)

Exercise:
A) Get a glass jar that you can keep for many years. Put it in a place where you will see it every day. Fill it with 75 jellybeans. Why? The average person now lives for 75 years. Take your current age, then subtract the number of jellybeans out from the container. You should now have a number that is less than 75 (if you have no jellybeans left, consider yourself extremely fortunate!) Every year on your birthday take one jellybean out and eat it. This exercise is designed to raise your awareness of how precious your time really is.

The Pursuit of Happyness and a Dream Job

February 1, 2009

Friends,

I had the pleasure of watching a movie called “The Pursuit of Happyness”, starring Will Smith recently. Yeah, I know it’s been out for a few years, but I don’t get a chance to watch many movies these days; Ok, I’ve seen all of the recent kid movies! The movie is based on a true story about a salesman named Chris Gardner who is having challenges selling medical equipment that he purchased with all of his family’s savings. His idea was to become self employed and self sufficient enough to take his family to the next level in the American dream.

Well, things didn’t quite work like he imagined. The road to fulfilling his dreams required more than just the idea of a dream; it required stamina, diligence, determination, and the ability to be flexible, which he had. Ultimately his challenges led to a separation from his wife, and his raising Christopher (his son) as a single dad, in and out of homelessness.

We’ve all been in circumstances where we’ve imagined something, like a wedding, buying a home, having a family, or something as simple as eating at a special restaurant that didn’t quite meet our vision of the way we thought it should be, or it was exactly like we imagined or much better that we imagined; Welcome to life and the ability to manifest your imagination!

The good news is that you have the ability to imagine anything and make it happen, as long as you have a clear vision, the commitment, flexibility, and diligence for getting it done. The one thing my mother has always told me is that “The race is not given to the swift, but those who endure it”. This is a mantra that plays in my head over and over; it’s been the one thing that helps me stay focused no my outcome. The real truth is that the things that are worth having are worth fighting for. In our current economy, we will see times unlike any other that we’ve experienced before, therefore having a strategy and belief system that gets you to the other side is imperative, now more than ever!

The Chris Gardner story is that of a man who won because he had the flexibility, stamina, beliefs, drive and courage to endure. If dreams were as easy as imagining and sitting back without doing anything to get them, they wouldn’t have the same impact. The real payoff is in the journey – If Walt and Roy Disney hadn’t imagined and brought Disneyland to fruition through their many EXTREME challenges – there would be no “Happiest Place on Earth”…..

I recommend you see take a little time to watch “The Pursuit of Happyness” and think about the following:
1. What is your compelling vision – the big picture that drives you?
2. When times are challenging, what do you do to keep yourself going?
3. When fears and anxiety are high, what do you do to get your emotions under control?
4. When the storms of life are raging, do you still have faith, or are you like many who only have faith when things are good?
5. What do you need to do to win the race?

Life is a journey filled with ebb and flows – what goes up, must come down. What goes down must go up! Keep your dream job alive and your brain working for you, not against you – The Secret of Understanding Yourself; Chapter 2 of my book.

Here’s a question for you:

1. Do you think it’s possible to find a Dream Job in the current economy? – Yes or No
Text to 73997 and enter key words Dream Job – and then either yes or no. We will send you a coupon code number for $10.00 off redeemable at http://www.TheFreindZone.Tv .

Stay true to your dreams and they will come!

Be the change you wish to see in the world!

Be the change you wish to see in the world
Share

A mother and her son decided to travel to see Gandhi, because the son had a problem. He was eating way too much sugar; As much as he tried to stop, he just kept on eating SUGAR. It took the mother and son 3 weeks to travel across a hot desert. When they finally reached Gandhi, he asked what they needed help with. The mother replied, “My son has a problem. He can’t stop eating sugar. Please make him stop.” Gandhi then said, “Come back to see me in 2 weeks.”

The mother and son left, then 2 weeks later returned.

“Why did you make us leave for 2 weeks?” The mother was pretty angry at this point. Gandhi simply replied, “Because 2 weeks ago, I was still eating sugar.”

🙂Mirror Mirror on the Wall...

A Lesson From the Wolves!

January 4, 2009

I hope you all have had an amazing holiday and are ready to get back into the hunt. This economy is not going to get better over night and the President elect Barack Obama has a major task on his hands, but it is us who must do the heavy lifting – not the President. With regard to the job/career seekers, I’d like to share an excerpt from a book by Cesar Millan – The Dog Whisperer.

“Many North American wolves spend their springs and summers foraging for small game and fish, and their winters in organize hunts, pursuing mammals, sometimes as large as moose. Biologist David L. Mech observed wolves in the wild and noticed that only 5 percent of their hunts were successful. But the wolves still went out every day to hunt. They didn’t get together and say, “You know, we’ve had a run of bad luck. Let’s blow off the hunt today.” Whether they caught their prey or not, they got up and went hunting. So the need to hunt – to go to work – is hardwired into to wolves.”

Many of us will have to remember that “The Race is not given to the swift, but those who endureth”. That’s a quote my mom has always reminded me and my brothers of. That being said, it’s time to get to work. Finding a job/career is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do – finding dream job is one of the most rewarding.

Let’s get back to work and be prepared to put your whole spirit into attracting opportunities that are amazing. In my new book and online curriculum, “How to Find Your Dream Job, Even in a Recession”, I share strategies for success. My website – http://www.TheFriendZone.Tv has lots of useful free resources – please use them.

There is also an awesome goal setting workshop in my curriculum for those of you who recognize the power of setting goals.

Until next time – Happy New Year, may you find the job of your dreams and keep the faith! There’s something waiting for you out there – you just need to do the work to find it.
